I have worked closely with Ryan as a colleague in the New Media Lab at NC State for the past three years and I have known Ryan personally for over a decade.
I have found Ryan to be an exceptionally competent, energetic, and intelligent person. In this past three years, Ryan has been central to the development of our new master’s program; it’s curriculum, and research agenda. Ryan has successfully developed and taught courses on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ryan has often been given the lead in challenging theme-based studios as well experimental animation studios. Each of these studios required the planning and direction of numerous, technically complex projects over the course of the semester. In every case, the semester cumulated in what was generally considered a great success.
I can say that in the fourteen years of teachings at NCState, I have never had a more enthusiastic and positive colleague than Ryan. Although every semester requires different skills in areas of aesthetics and technical expertise, (no designer can technically have them all) Ryan has accepted the challenges with great zeal and preformed his work with distinction. He encouraged and motivated the design studios by his own exemplary hard work, quality of investigation, extraordinary energy coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
I believe he has the proper combination of talent, intelligence and determination and to excel in whatever he chooses to accomplish.
