Pablo D. del Valle
Design Camp Coordinator
NC State University

Ryan was thoroughly prepared for each session, very engaged with all of his students and incredibly quick on his feet…Unfortunately, many professors might squash the adventurous students’ creative vision; Ryan on the other hand did everything he could to guarantee that each student brought even the most challenging project to completion.

Even before the first student arrived on campus, it was obvious that Ryan was going to be an amazing instructor, he was inquisitive, eager and dedicated to pushing the limits of what each of our students could achieve…I have had the privilege of working with dozens of design professionals over the course of the last few years coordinating design camp, and can easily say that Ryan DeWitt is at the top of that list.

Robert Hubal, PhD
Research Triangle Institute

“Ryan created a series of animations to illustrate basic neurobiological principles, as well as other animations demonstrating the effects of alcohol on the brain in relation to driving performance. These animations required a considerable effort on Ryan’s part to understand these basic and detailed processes and to represent them effectively. He produced what I consider a high-quality contribution to the multimedia presentation, and did so efficiently in time and dollars…” read more

Gary Duncan, PhD
University of North Carolina

“Ryan has been a tremendous asset as member of our team in translating complex science into simple animations to help students learn. With little background in biology, Ryan has done an amazing job in researching and learning the details of the content that we address in our curricula. Ryan has been very responsive to many picky detailed requirements for the accurate representation of scientific concepts. Through his self-directed efforts and close interaction with the team we have been able to formulate learning resources that could address pressing public health concerns…”  read more

Robert D. Pearlstein Ph.D.
Department of Surgery
Duke University and Medical Center

“What initially impressed me about Mr. DeWitt was his portfolio.  In particular, his work involving medical and scientific graphics and animation showed a remarkable talent for capturing and presenting medical-scientific concepts to both professional and non-medical, non-scientific audiences.  I direct a group at Loma Linda University which is developing an experimental, non-invasive surgical procedure for treatment of intractable epilepsy, and we decided to contract Ryan to help with developing media concepts for presenting these procedures to patients and family.  I have more recently contracted with Ryan to assist with the development of animation media for inclusion in a web site here at Duke University and Medical Center devoted to the history and instrumentation of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery…”  read more

“I was amazed at Ryan’s ability to conceive an animation project that could be completed by high school students within the limited timeframe of one day.  Our 160 participating high school campers come form a variety of backgrounds and most had absolutely no experience with animation.  Ryan was able to engage campers in a creative process to develop their own individual stop-motion animations as well as an animation they produced collaboratively.  It takes a great deal of patience, energy, skill and passion to lead a project such as this and connect with such a broad range of personalities and skill levels.
